Advanced Conversion Pathways for Challenging Waste Streams

HMPG is designed to process a range of prepared feedstocks. Each material stream is evaluated on its own composition, logistics, and regulatory context.

Feedstock evaluation

Different materials. Specific engineering requirements.

Material stream / 01

Woody biomass

Forestry residues, mill waste, and clean wood waste. Typically a consistent, well-characterized feedstock when properly sized and dried.

Engineering considerations

Moisture content and particle size are key preparation parameters.

Material stream / 02

Waste tires

End-of-life tires are a carbon-rich stream with potential for both gas and solid carbon recovery.

Engineering considerations

Steel and fiber removal and sulfur management are part of preparation and gas cleanup.

Material stream / 03

Agricultural residues

Crop residues and agricultural processing byproducts.

Engineering considerations

Ash content and seasonal variability require characterization.

Concept rendering: Municipal waste moving through industrial sorting equipment; not an actual company installation

Material stream / 04

Municipal solid waste

Pre-sorted and prepared fractions of MSW, such as refuse-derived fuel.

Engineering considerations

Heterogeneous composition requires sorting, preparation, and extensive testing.

Concept rendering: Sorted plastic flakes and compacted recycling material; not an actual company installation

Material stream / 05

Selected plastics

Certain plastic streams and other carbon-containing industrial materials.

Engineering considerations

Halogenated plastics and contaminated streams need specific evaluation.

Feedstock compatibility is not universal. Suitability and performance for any material depend on preparation, system engineering, testing, and permitting. Feedstock characterization and trials are the first step in every project evaluation.
